UPDATE,Friday, June 10,
2011
Ron saw his oncologist, Dr. Makhoul today. Dr.Makhoul is an awesome
oncologist who teaches oncology at UAMS. His home country was Sytia before moving here over 40 years ago. His heart and ours are saddened that he still has family in Syria. Please add them to your prayer list as they are currently experiencing very serious and dangerous political unrest in their country.
Findings were that Ron's potassium is good, so for now that
is no longer a concern. Ron could not receive his monthly infusion of Zometa for
the bone mets because his creatine was elevated. Dr. M. said it might compromise
Ron's kidneys so he did not want to do the infusion this month. Ron has
developed some pretty bad leg pain the last few days. Dr. did a Doppler study to
make sure Ron did not have a blood clot. Thankfully, everything was fine. Ron
will be having a "parenthesis procedure" in 3 weeks...this is a procedure to
drain the fluid. He made the decision to have the fluid drained by this method
rather than being hospitalized and messing with the lasix all day and night.
That method exhausted him and he has not yet fully
recovered.
Ron is trying very hard to bounce
back, so he will feel like going to the Classic Car Show at Petit Jean next
week. He is also looking forward to Father's Day & seeing family. Tomorrow,
Ron's long time friend, Wendell and his wife, Gail are coming over for a visit.
Wendell and Ron were class mates from a long, long time ago.
There are numerous reports that state
a patient who has a strong support team does better than those who do not have one. Each
of you play a vital part in that team. I cannot tell you how much you all have
encouraged Ron & me with your many acts of kindnesses and expressions of
love.
Love from both of us.
