Lab Instructions

If you want to read about what ISI (Inter Sciene Instititute) says about labs and how to prepare for the labs before taking them, go to ISI website-http://www.interscienceinstitute.com/ . Scroll down to the middle of the page where it shows the alphabet and search here by name. For instance, if you are scheduled for a Chromogranin A (CGA) test, click on the "C". It tells everything that your doctor may/may not tell you...such as whether or not to fast...and more. It also tells how the drawing laboratory should prepare the drawn blood for shipping to ISI (Inter Science Instititute) for processing. It is very important to make sure the lab you use for drawing the blood follows the instructions for the specific "carcinoid related" testing.

It will be of great benefit to you if you will read up on each lab test that you are scheduled to take before taking it so you will be well versed on what should be done. Remember, some of these tests are speciality tests that many laboratories are not familiar with and do not have a clue as to what needs to be done. You may end up having to be the person who helps teach the staff at your drawing lab the process!! You will benefit greatly by having the ISI book(s).  They can be obtained free by calling ISI.

Even if you do not use ISI, you will still gain knowledge by checking out the ISI site.
