UPDATE  June 15, Wednesday, 9:00 p.m.

We just returned from UAMS in LR where Ron got a "paratensesis" procedure to drain more fluid.  This time, they drained 4.7 liters.  The procedure was scheduled for July 1, but we got it moved up to today due to Ron's continuing health decline.

Ron had complications during and after the procedure with dangerously low blood pressure.  It got all the way to 47/31 and in the 50(s) a couple of times.  The staff was quick to respond & knew what to do to prevent a crisis.

On the way home, Ron's blood pressure dropped again, but not as low.  He is continues to be weaker by the day.  Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day and he will feel better.

We appreciate your continued prayers.
Love to you all,
Joyce

Yes, Carolyn, it was extremely dangerous. We were all very concerned. On the way home,we had to stop along the side of the road a few times because he felt like his blood pressure was getting low again. Thankfully, I had packed our BP cuff. We monitored it until we got closer to our local hospital and it came up enough that we came on home. He is lying in bed now with his feet elevated so maybe he will rest and have a better day tomorrow & in the days ahead. We love ya'll.

You probably know this but if he feels his b/p is low, he should lie flat with his feed elevated at about a 45 degree angle. This will ususally decrease the lightheadedness and weakness while improving the b/p.
Do they give him Albumin after the paracentesis? Sometimes that aides in pushing the extracellular fluids back intracellular thereby preventing the drop in b/p.
I so wish I could twinkle my nose and Ron would be healed. I know God has a plan for us all and we must wait for it to unfold.
As always, my thoughts and prayers are with you both.
Luv from Rossville!
Kathy

Joyce, I am so sorry that Ron is having such a difficult time. It is heartbreaking to me to see how quickly Ron's health has deteriorated just within the last week. I can only imagine how much more this must affect both yourself & Ron.To think that only last Tuesday night (June 7th) the hospital in Clinton had drained off all this fluid and here TODAY just 1 week after his release from there Ron must have the fluid drained yet again at UAMS. And we are not talking about a small amount of body fluid either - 4.7 Liters - Well OVER a GALLON - in ONE week.
The low blood pressure recorded today 47/31 is definitely VERY DANGEROUS. I have never known anyone to have blood pressure this low.The elevated creatine count in his blood last Friday is an indication that his kidneys may be in the beginning stages of shutting down. This could very well be a part of his tiredness & fatigue even after only very moderate exertion. We sometimes fail to realize how complex our bodies are in design when they are working well. But when the kidneys start working much harder, and can no longer keep our blood clean & filtered properly, we start slowing down becoming easily fatigued. The kidneys also help us make hormones beneficial to our body. When these hormones are no longer present in substantial quantities that too can deplete our energy. And we are also aware that Ron's Carcinoid Tumors have done irreparable harm to his liver - yet another vital organ needed to sustain life. I will pray to Jehovah through Jesus Christ for strength and wisdom for both you and Ron through this tragedy as I continue to pray for God's will to be carried out much like Jesus did.
Please rest assured of my love for BOTH you & Ron. Sincerely, Dale
