UPDATE from 1/2/2011
Oncology Appointment
Needless to say, we are rejoicing and thanking God for the doctor's reports Ron recieved on Tuesday, 1/2/2011. The scans show that Ron's cancer is "Stable, no new growth and some of the tumors are shrinking". We are sooooooooooooo happy with this report.
A couple of weeks ago, we visited with Ron's primary doctor who told us that if the above mentioned scans had of indicated no improvement and a further decline in health, Ron would have to be taken off of the Oral chemo pill and he would most likely only have 3 or 4 months of life. The primary doctor will also be happy with the good scan results.
As it is, Ron will continue the Afinitor chemo pill for a few more months and then be re-scanned.
Ron has been feeling much better for the last couple of weeks. Today, he is out running errands in his pick-up. This is a real improvement from a few weeks ago.
He stays home much of the time and gets very bored. Feel free to call and run by to see him anytime...or just call for a chit chat.
Please continue to pray that the medicines work; that the tumors will all shrink; that Ron will gain weight and that the energy levels will continue to increase.
As aways, we thank you for continuing to be part of Ron's support team.
Love,
Joyce

Whew, dummy me finally figured out where to post:)
What wonderful news, my heart is full of joy for you both. I will continue to pray that there will be many more posts of such encouragement.
Happy New Year, filled with much happiness to you both.

Your update has made my day, can't wait to see ya'll in person later this month with some big ole hugs!
Love ya,
Sis
Thanks Marguerite,
AND a very Happy New Year to you two! Love, Joyce & Ron
Yes, Carolyn, we are also looking forward to our time together later this month. You are a sweetheart for thinking of it!!
Love ya, your sistah!
Joyce, I am so glad that Ron's condition has stabilized for the present and that some of his tumors have actually shown signs of shrinkage. It is good that he has more energy than a couple of weeks ago at present and I am hopeful that will continue. However, do not let your expectations rise too high as time goes on. While it is very good to have great hope please be prepared to deal with whatever the future shall hold. It is not uncommon for ones that are as ill as Ron is to experience ups and downs like a roller coaster. Some bad days followed by some good days. I too will rejoice and we will both be full of joy if the future holds out continued improvement. I too am thankful for the current signs of at least a little improvement in how Ron feels recently. Like my "Anonymous" sister I look forward to being with both you and Ron later this month. By the way, Do you know why our mom and dad chose not to name her?? That has always been a mystery to me. Love, your Brother and Ron's Friend, Dale
Ron and Joyce this is a good update. I am so thankful to hear this news. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Hugs and Love, Lynn
Yes, Dale, I agree that one should brace for the rough spots so those rough spots will not be blind ones.
One can cope better by being prepared. That being said, we are rejoicing for the good times, praying and holding out hope for more and more good days. I hope and pray the same for you with your health care needs.
I'll have to ponder about your last comment in your posting. lol
We love you and Cheryl and look forward to seeing ya'll later this month.
Hey Lynn, wish all of the old WR gang lived near. We'd call our friends to drum up some music and have a joyous dance in the streets to celebrate. Trust me, we were on pins and needles and bracing for the worst news THEN when we heard the report we were elated. God is good! Love ya'll.
Mom, and Ron, I am soo thnkful for your good news, and that "peppi" is feeling better. We have to enjoy the days that we have and Im so glad that He has had a few days to enjoy! I love you and Ron very much! I love my aunt anonymous and my uncle dale too...lol!
Hey Raquenta, fancy meeting you here!! lol
Pepi Ron and I love ya'll very , very much too!
Hey Ron, FYI Deep South just hired a guy to take Tuckers place. I spent most of last week with him, kind of made me think of you and Don when you two put me thru some training. I started him at 7:30am and ususally quite around 8 in the evening doing some computer work. The last night he ask if we could call it a day he was tired. I laughed and said ok but you only get me for so long so you'd better learn lots and learn it fast. They are going to run him thru half of MO, all of AR and the NE quarter of TX. He will be a busy man if he can pull that off.
Well I read you blog, I'm not much of a bloger if that's the right word. I still keep you in my prayers and ask God to take care of you! I do not know what his will is which is a good thing I think, I do have faith that he is perfect and he will do the right thing. I can't change the weather and would not try to change Gods will. What ever it is it will be to glorify him and it's great to know that you'll be a part of it. I hope you are doing well and I will continue to ask that God take care of you and Joyce. May God bless you and keep you.
Your friend
Dan
Hey Dan,
Ron said to tell you thanks for the news from the old work place. We both think of you from time to time, especially with Don now gone, Bennie leaving and all of the new changes. Although the company was very good to Ron when he worked there, we are still glad that he is no longer there. Not sure all of the changes would be good for Ron's health & stress level! We both feel for you!!
We may see you at Bennie's retirement party next week.
Thanks for continuing to keep Ron's health needs in your prayers.
Stay safe on those highways while you are running from place to place.
